Notes from a Tour Manager.

Miss Leona Wilson

Wow. Three Years. How fast has that gone? In case you don’t know what I’m on about’…University has come to an end, well all the official part of it. I’m still doing stuff in conjunction with it for a few weeks but my life as a student is basically done!

It’s gone so fast and I must say I’ve had a great time and my course was brilliant. But, on to new things now!

My near-to-last weekend at IKEA was OK too. Not too busy but busy enough to not be boring. I need to get a few hours in the new store car before I leave anyway. It’s some Honda Civic hybrid thing, so it probably runs on cucumbers or something.

On Saturday evening I popped into Batley to wish Laura a Happy Birthday even though it was two days previous, I even bought her and her friend’s a bottle of wine – how nice am I? I also had a chat with Gill!

Sunday evening saw Leona and I ‘working’ in the rain. Basically, I was helping her with her photography coursework and it just happened to be raining too! Nice… It was nice however, to see Miss Leona Wilson.

Today I started editing the Trivium footage I shot at St George’s Hall in Bradford. I also formed a production company…not officially though.

Oh and listen to the Madina Lake album, its pretty awesome!

PS – Happy Birthday Marianne.
PPS – Just seen ‘28 Weeks Later’ – pretty good!

450m In A Micra.

I ended up visiting Stevo on Tuesday. It was his 24th birthday so Happy Birthday to him! Everyone there was from IKEA so there were many MFI jokes flying around.

Previous to that I had been at Laura’s arguing discussing the environment and recycling, with her Dad, Wayne. It was all constructive but I think he needs to address Kirklees council and not me! I think he slightly ‘The Importance of Recycling’ however.

Yesterday I went on a pretty epic journey.

Firstly, to Bradford to take my Grandma’s dog, Rosie to the vet. I then came back to Birstall to pick up Matt’s faulty amp. I then headed down to Birmingham to Laney’s HQ which was a pretty swanky building.

From there I travelled down to London to pick up a Mesa Boogie pre-amp. I had set off at 12 so it was nearing 6 at this point. The place I was going was very near to Heathrow so there were loads of low-flying Jumbo jets. I assume I was near the airport anyway, it could just have been a few pilots showing off their skills.

“Woah woah woah, check me out”

The longest trek was the one on the M25 then on to the M1 for 200m. It was exceedingly windy and horrendously rainy at some points but my wipers weren’t squeaking so I wasn’t bothered.

I got back to Dewsbury to meet Chris and Jamie at roughly 2230 after a fuel stop.

450m in a Micra. Exhilarating.

Charlie.

PS – On the way down I tried Burger King’s version of the ‘McFlurry’. I had Strawberry Cheesecake flavour and it was lovely.

The Executive Decision

I took the executive decision to remove Haddock and Lasagne from IKEA’s menu last night. They both take around thirty minutes to cook and we weren’t receiving that many customers to justify me cooking more.

The snow must’ve scared them all off. Around three inches fell on Birstall Retail Park and exiting the car park was fun. I tried a few ‘Colin McRae’ moves, and failed. Snow tyres and traction control next time I think.

As of this morning the snow has all but melted. Typical.

Laura and I watched Se7en on Thursday evening. It’s probably one of my favourite films. I can watch it several times and not be bored.

Actually there are a few films I can watch many times and not become bored; Office Space, You’ve Got Mail, Sin City, Shaun of the Dead, The Indiana Jones’.

Anyone off to see Madina Lake on Sunday evening?

Charlie.
