Notes from a Tour Manager.

Too Gay To Function

We didn’t have a very busy weekend at IKEA at all this weekend. It was weird.

After work I originally planned to have dinner with Leona. However, plans changed and I ended up having dinner with Madina Lake.

It was probably for the best as Leona needed copious amounts of sleep.

So anyway, Nathan, Dan, Mateo, Matthew and David went to Tesco for some supplies then back to the tour bus where we listened to an intermittent feed of the Superbowl; their team was playing, the Chicago Bears.

Madina’s next date is at Newcastle University. (they’re better than Gym Class Heroes)

Later on Jamie popped in to pick up one of the ”Scissor Sisters’ ” Laney amps. It’s purple and furry so it should suit the bands’ current slogan ‘Too Gay To Function’.

Today.

Today Mr Cooke and I are to venture to Bristol once again. We’re not gonna’ be returning till Thursday and we’re there to film the second part of our documentary. The part starring an individual called George Hoskins, probably one of the best ‘Counterstrike’ players in the country.

On with the show,
Charlie.

I’ll Never Really Know.

After the biggest MySpace advertising campaign for any party ever the date finally arrived; it was Chris’ 21st party.

Official party band, July Rising were on the bill amongst others including Hannah Fox singing ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ by Kelly Clarkson and the eloquently drunk Chris.

After the party a few select individuals were invited back to Chris’ house for the official ‘after party’. This ‘after party’ featured an even more drunk Chris bent on ‘chillin’ out’.

The night ended around 0300 soon after Leona rang me to notify me of her current sleeping arrangement; in a car, in the cold. Don’t worry she wasn’t in there for long! She also said Happy Birthday to you Chris…you would have been too inebriated at that time to understand.

The morning after the party. Jamie, Chris, Sterky, Adam and I were due to see Leeds United Vs Barnsley – the significance of this game being the first ever proper football match I’ve watched. On the whole I was rather entertained. The spectators were, on the whole, a rather good bunch – apart from the obvious ‘you’re scum’ chant. What I don’t understand is how people get so into the game; for example shouting at the referee accompanied by a long, deep stare. It’s like their live’s are dependant on the game. This is coming from someone who isn’t really into football so I suppose I’ll never really know.

Charlie.

PS – I’m sure some of you have noticed that I should have used italics in several places within this entry. The reason I don’t is due to the fact that I need to sort out some coding within the site.
When I use the coding around the word I want to italicise, instead of leaning it turns red. I don’t want it to turn red, so I’ve left it out. I’m sorry. I’ll sort it soon!

Chips & Peas.

I find the hardest thing about a blog is to uniquely-title each post. I either come up with a post around a title, or come up with a title about the post after I have written it. What I do know is that they have to be short, yet poignant which can be a hard combination, one which I hardly ever reach.

As I write this post I am alt-tabbing the window to BBC News which I scan maybe twenty-times a day, it also helps that BBC News is my homepage and I must also stress how much I love the BBC. I start at Science/Nature, down to Technology then on to Entertainment then I browse the whole site. Stories such as McCartney turning 64 and the BBC’s brilliant poll “Which Cup Coverage do you prefer? BBC or ITV” – 26,410 are in favour of the BBC thats 90.35%! What a great poll!

My original idea for this weekend was to crash the download festival but that idea folded, instead I crashed out at co-worker Gill’s house, along with ex-co-worker, Kyle, her son. We watched the England match accompanied with a BBQ, which was nice.

Today I opted to go into work and I’m glad I did. I got to see “the family”, which is the shortest way I can describe the IKEA friend tree and the Kitchen is air-conditioned which was nice and I trained Laura how to make a delectable salad (damn I wish salad began with an S so I could use some awesome aliteration), a Prawn & Egg Open sandwich to be precise and I also organised a nice day out for next tuesday. Special thanks must go to Laura for giving me a Toy Story, Woody Pen for my birthday, which lights up and is very cool.

“Prawn and Egg” is just one of many common pairs of food we sell at IKEA for example: Berries & Gravy, Chips & Gravy, Fish & Chips, Chips & Peas, Shut Up Charlie!, Pasta & Meatballs et al…..

I eventually lifted the title of this post right from the text itself!
Charlie.

PS – Incidently, I forgot to mention a new section of the site I’ve been slowly launching: “Media”.
