Employee of the Month

Buses being bricked and a watching of ‘What Dreams May Come’.

What is society coming to? What would fuel a kid’s urge to throw a brick at a bus and possibly injure several passengers? Is it society as it stands? Is it the violent world we live in? Or is it the kid’s parents? Or music? Maybe its the ‘British way’?

To be honest, I don’t really know. I’ve never really been into the whole ‘brick throwing at buses’ stage so I wouldn’t know why I’d do it. Maybe it is the parents but everything seems to be blamed on them these days. I don’t think its the media but then thats coming from a person who has been studying it for five years so I know how to react to it.

Its disgusting to know this stuff happens. Anyway, the bus in question was Leona’s and she, nor anyone else was injured so I’m led to believe.

After Leona came around we watched ‘What Dreams May Come’. Its one of Robin Williams’ non-comedic pieces and I find it to be one of his all-time best films much like ‘One Hour Photo’ and ‘Insomnia’. Well I can’t forget ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ that one’s just pure brilliance.

Later on Jamie and I watched ‘Employee of the Month’. Since it was my second watch (and Jamie’s first) I was seeing things which I hadn’t seen before. I found the film to be much like ‘The 40 Year old Virgin’; with a very male-orientated cast and a common goal. The goal in this one is to secure Dane Cook the title of ‘Employee of the Month’. Best Quote: ‘this is an ‘81 Honda, how dare you!’

Worst Spillage Ever

I’ve just bought a new keyboard, I’ll tell you why in a moment. The best thing about it is its ’soft touch’ style. However, it has a curved nature about it. In addition to:

  • A ridiculously small left shift key
  • Overly-large N, B, V, H, G, T keys (probably to compensate for the new, curved style.)
  • A distinct lack of Microsoft Favourite (lazy man) keys so I now have to find where my downloaded movies live…
  • Why did I replace my rather fantastic Microsoft Keyboard with Fingerprint reader then? Well, Laura came over and I hit her full glass of lemonade (I meant to hit her) which fell on the keyboard and on a number of other important documents which probably make it the worst spillage ever: my counterpart driving license, my car insurance certificate, partially on my wallet and lets say the magna carta and the declaration of independence was there too.

Weirdly, Laura didn’t play much Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas… The Sims 2 this time, not a bad choice I must say.

I bought this keyboard in Tesco, obviously. It was only £15. It was so busy I couldn’t understand why. I also couldn’t understand as to why the family, well couple in front of Chris and I were buying four giant bottles of Tesco Value cooking oil and a large tub of cheap, again Tesco Value mayonnaise. I’m intrigued as to what concoctions they will create from these two fantastic and healthy ingredients.

    So-Co mate,
    Charlie.

    …Can Be Seen From Space

I was just reading an article on the Great Wall of China and it contained the notorious “its so gigantic it can be seen from space” quote. Now this always, and I mean always baffles me as surely just about anything can be seen from Space.

Aside from the fact we have the satellites that have 100-Gigapixel Macro lenses attached to them I also doubt that anyone could see anything from space with their naked eye, apart from the odd Russia-sized country.

The Great Wall however, is not alone, one of the Millenium Dome’s selling points was that it could be seen from Space (who knows why), once again I incredibly doubt this “fact” without the use of a satellite.

Anyway back on to more important matters: Digital editing has commenced on the Chenai video, I hope to have a copy of this online by next week, I’ll add it to the new Media > Video section! I have also a re-edited part of my Recycling documentary if anyone remembers that? Well, that will be in that section too.

If you haven’t already noticed I re-coded the links part of the site, its much easiar to read now and its also easiar for me to update. The older version will stay online but I won’t be updating it.

I’m also considering moving photo galleries: from Coppermine to Flickr. How does that sound? My old gallery will stay online but it won’t be updated as often as Flickr (I don’t think), yet it will be reserved for more personal events rather than public ones which I have been using Flickr for.
