MUSE ARE BACK

So, let me start this post with a loud and ear-drum piercing shout.. MUSE ARE BACK!

Yes, one of Britain’s best acts is back on the scene. Their latest creation “The Resistance” is due out in September…so not too long of a wait.
And in true Muse spirit they are promoting the album with a treasure hunt, but this one is GLOBAL…and I mean, global.

Paris, Dubai, Tokyo, Moscow…. The band have placed USB sticks across the planet and every time a one is found 20% of their new track “UNITED STATES OF EURASIA” is uploaded to http://ununitedeurasia.muse.mu/music/ so do check it out (I think you have to be a registered member) and listen to it yourself!

My first impressions of the song were… Great, it has piano in it (my favourite instrument), oh and a great Muse-esque build up then wow, are those “Egyptian-style” piano sounds?… is that a hint of Queen I hear? As you can see, many different emotions spawned from the my first play. Personally, the song sounds fantastic and I cannot wait for the album to hit the shelves.

I know I go on about the ‘greatness of Muse’ but I do really feel they are a truly unique band both musically and live. They are a breath of fresh air in the sea of pop-punk-poppy-emo-overproduced-badly produced-screamo-3 chord-comicy-drunken-looks driven… bands out there.

I find it fantastic that if any member of Muse walked through the streets of London or New York or Tokyo that most people wouldn’t even bat an eye-lid but they can happily sell out 90,000 capacity shows, or a 35-date arena tour. Which other act can do that?
Muse are appreciated for their music and their live show that comes along with that. They have no need to grace every magazine cover half naked, they don’t have to marry a ‘celebrity’ in order to be known, they don’t need some big shot Producer, they don’t have to cause havoc or be controversial to sell tickets or records and they definitely do not need gimmicks.

With Muse, its always about the music. And its this reason and this reason alone why I regard them so highly.

The Internet Would Be Perfect.

I have just finished reading this article.

It’s about some video posted on GoogleItaly. The video featured a person with down syndrome, being bullied – of course this is a horrible thing.
Everyone will agree with that. However, the ‘people’ want to know how a video containing such in-humane acts was allowed to be published online.

Google is basically being sued for allowing this to happen. They are being accused of not filtering content correctly and not responding to complaints in a quick manner.

The thing is….you have to look at this from the big picture. GoogleVideo has, I don’t know around 40million videos on it? ‘Active filtering’ would take a 1000 years, and you’d need hundreds of staff to monitor the videos. It’s completely unworkable.

So what if say…100 complaints = the video to be blocked until reviewed? This could work…but its open to abuse if not properly worked out. Maybe ‘flagging’ is only open to registered and authenticated users? Who knows.

However, if Google is found guilty and all videos in Italy become ‘pre-approved only’ then social videos will be completley lost. They might as well watch TV. Its just another thing leading towards the Internet being regulated – which I never want to see.

If it wasn’t for the minor few posting videos etc like this online then the Internet would be perfect. Alas, it’s not.

‘Super Sweet 16′

I’m currently at Laura’s and I’m watching ‘Super Sweet 16′ on MTV. It’s not the worst programme I’ve seen but I think the content is. There are some seriously spoilt girls in the US of A – I wonder if the girls know that people watching it are secretly hating them, not due to jealously (well not on my part) but due to the reactions of her friends and the general over-the-top nature of the party and the invited. It’s horrendous.

Anyway, on Sunday night Chris and Jamie and I were joined by Matt. We all then went ‘d’aan Bat’ley’ well, to Wetherspoons and the infamous Frontier – previous venue of stars such as Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. Not so much today though, it sees people such as Roy Chubby Brown (who is quite infamous I suppose) and Big Brother’s ‘Mikey’ on the decks Dj-ing – fabulous.

There were so many people at the Frontier which I recognised. Miss Emily Heward was even there and it was cool to see her. A large proportion of the night was spent texting the big screen 07814517109 is the number if you want to text it.

On Monday Matt and Chris came down to my house and we watched brand new ‘Family Guy’, brand new, ‘The Simpsons’ (which was really funny) and brand new ‘American Dad’.

Editing for the documentary ‘Broadband Lives’ is going OK. However, it is constantly hindered by the constant Windows errors I keep receiving. It’s rather annoying!

Oh and Madina Lake’s album; ‘From Them, Through Us, To You’ is now out. I assume you’ve bought it?

Oh dear, the girl on ‘Super Sweet 16′ has just got another car for her birthday. So she has a sports car and an SUV. And we wonder where the world’s carbon emissions come from…

- Charlie.
