The Internet Would Be Perfect.

I have just finished reading this article.

It’s about some video posted on GoogleItaly. The video featured a person with down syndrome, being bullied – of course this is a horrible thing.
Everyone will agree with that. However, the ‘people’ want to know how a video containing such in-humane acts was allowed to be published online.

Google is basically being sued for allowing this to happen. They are being accused of not filtering content correctly and not responding to complaints in a quick manner.

The thing is….you have to look at this from the big picture. GoogleVideo has, I don’t know around 40million videos on it? ‘Active filtering’ would take a 1000 years, and you’d need hundreds of staff to monitor the videos. It’s completely unworkable.

So what if say…100 complaints = the video to be blocked until reviewed? This could work…but its open to abuse if not properly worked out. Maybe ‘flagging’ is only open to registered and authenticated users? Who knows.

However, if Google is found guilty and all videos in Italy become ‘pre-approved only’ then social videos will be completley lost. They might as well watch TV. Its just another thing leading towards the Internet being regulated – which I never want to see.

If it wasn’t for the minor few posting videos etc like this online then the Internet would be perfect. Alas, it’s not.

She’s Back!!

She’s back!…

But only for a month.
Yes, Laura Newey (remember, that friend of mine that depared to Australia a mere 20 months ago??) is back from Perth.

I picked her up from Stansted Airport yesterday.
It was absolutley fantastic to see her. I’ve missed her!

She also surprised Amanda who I’m told burst into tears (aww) and Matt, Laura’s boyfriend will be over in two weeks – it will be good to meet the fellow!!

Anyway, thats the good news :)

Sparks The Rescue.

I’m pretty much finished with all the end-of-tour duties I usually have.

Money, accounts, payments, equipment, press..all of that stuff has to be wrapped up to make it officially done.

The tour I just came off was the All American Rejects tour throughout the major markets of Europe – England, France, Germany, Austria…it was a very fun tour. I was Tour Managing and Driving their only support act ‘Sparks The Rescue’ – a great bunch of guys from Maine, USA. It was the band’s first time away from the USA so everything was new to them…so I also had to act as tour guide…which is always nice.

Anyhoo, the tour went very well for both acts and hopefully the guys will be back later in the year…
A tour video is currently being made by STR about the Euro tour.

I can’t wait to see that.
